About

Where I Stand:

-> Integrity in Leadership

-> Balance

-> Accountability and Transparency

-> civility

-> Think Long Term, act now

Politicians often espouse lists of talking points and banal campaign promises. That’s not my style and never will be. Throwing out the same old tired political machinations would be a poor representation of what I’m about. In a world that has shown how rapid things can change in unpredictable ways, i.e. COVID, civil unrest, natural disasters, etc, it seems misguided to elect leaders based on narrowly defined positions on hot topic issues. Rather if we elect leaders based on their moral makeup, we can trust them to operate in those unpredictable moments with clarity and truth.

Plus, having served on the Farmville Town Council, and the Board of Wildlife Resources for Virginia, for the last 4 years, I’ve learned some things about governing with others. It’s not my way or nothing. Governing in this country, in this commonwealth, in this community, is best when not attempted by fiat. The best path forward for the benefit of the town, is to seek collaboration and diverse ideas. Council votes on policy, so maintaining the collegial relationship between our elected officials is paramount to any success. As a balanced consensus maker with strong working relationships on Council, I believe we can get a lot done in service to the citizens of Farmville should I be elected to the position of Mayor.

Some humble objectives:

  • help to prepare our community for the future with inventive economic development, financial security

  • continue to build diverse stakeholder collaborations

  • continue to strengthen our relationship with neighboring localities

  • focus on emerging municipal and technological trends

  • maintain historic feel of Farmville, while also creating space for smart growth

  • increase quality of life services and amenities to retain young professionals and families

  • maintain and grow established relationships with state wide elected representatives

  • serve as a forward thinking leader and spokesperson for the Town of Farmville
